(Minghui.org) After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to suppress Falun Dafa in July 1999, many people supported me in various ways. I will be forever grateful because what they did not only helped me but also themselves.
My Husband
My husband is a government employee and he faced intense pressure after the persecution started. But he supported me without hesitation.
I decided to appeal at the provincial appeals office. Before I left, I told my husband the password to our bank card and other important things. He did not stop me and just said, “If you are arrested and detained, I will visit you with our child.”
We used to often turn on the television when we came home after work. But I did want to watch the defamatory CCP propaganda. My husband did not turn on the television either.
One day a police officer saw my husband and said, “You need to watch your wife [so that she does not practice Falun Dafa]...” Before he could finish, my husband said, “She’s fine. Why do I need to watch her?” The officer did not know how to respond and left.
My Brother and Sister-in-law
After the persecution started, I needed a safe place to keep my Falun Dafa books. I went to my brother and sister-in-law to ask if they would help. “No problem. You can keep them here,” my sister-in-law replied. I was very happy for their support.
The couple’s daughter later found a job in an overseas company that paid well. They bought a new apartment, nice furniture, and electronics. I believe that they were rewarded for their kindness.
My Supervisors
I was the only practitioner at our branch of the company. After the persecution started, higher officials told my employer to monitor me around the clock. My supervisor refused, saying, “I don’t know how to do that [monitor her around the clock]. We can’t rent a hotel room and watch her there all day.” I did not know this until several years later.
Because of restructuring, our branch of the company ceased operations, and the managers (including me) were transferred to company headquarters. Because I practiced Falun Dafa, the headquarters was initially reluctant to accept me. But my supervisor recommended me highly and said, “There is nothing wrong with practicing Falun Dafa. She has a great personality and her skills are top notch. She won’t cause any trouble.” I was not aware of this until 20 years later.
When the persecution was most intense, higher officials told each department to hold meetings to attack Falun Dafa. One division director found me and said, “We were told to have such a meeting. It will not target you and you don’t have to attend. I don’t know why we are wasting time on this.” I was happy the meeting did not take place in the end; otherwise, many people would have been forced to slander Falun Dafa. That director was later promoted to a higher position at the headquarters.
My Coworkers
There were about 30 people in my division, and we also managed some lower-level employees. During those years, I never heard anyone say anything against Falun Dafa. Both my supervisors and coworkers trusted me, and they also protected me.
Sometimes when two people argued and one side did not believe the other, someone would suggest, “Let’s go and check with Yan [me]. She won’t lie.” Occasionally when the company security office sent someone to investigate me, my supervisors and coworkers sent the person away.
After the persecution started, someone once accessed the Minghui website on a computer at work. The police came and located the computer. One coworker in the officer said, “We don’t know who used that computer. People often come and go here.” So the investigation stopped there and I was not affected. That coworker later became division director of our branch.
Summary
During those years, I was hardly mistreated due to my belief at my workplace. I want to thank those who helped in those dark days. I am happy for them because I know their integrity will bring them blessings. I also want to thank Master Li, the founder of Falun Dafa, for everything.
