(Minghui.org) The cases against nine Kunming City, Yunnan Province residents were twice returned to the arresting officers citing insufficient evidence, yet the police refuse to release them and are still attempting to seek their prosecution.
The nine Kunming locals were arrested on June 6, 2024, for practicing Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999. Sixteen other local Falun Gong practitioners were also seized on the same day.
According to insiders, this mass arrest, dubbed the “6.6 Project,” was ordered by the Kunming City Police Department. Multiple police stations across different districts took part in the group arrest. The Zongshuying Police Station in Xishan District was responsible for arresting at least ten of the practitioners, including the aforementioned nine.
