(Minghui.org) A Fushun City, Liaoning Province resident was admitted to the Jinzhou Prison in early March 2025 to serve a three-year term for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Jin Baochun, a 64-year-old veteran, was arrested on April 24, 2024 for talking to people about Falun Gong at a community fair. He was released on bail the next day. The Wanghua District Court held a hearing at his home on November 4 and convicted him at an unknown time. He was then taken back into custody at the Nangou Detention Center and transferred to prison months later.
Past Persecution
Mr. Jin worked as an appliance repair and maintenance technician at the Fushun Third Petroleum Plant after he retired from the military. He worked hard and took his personal interests lightly. Many coworkers held him in high regard.
After the Chinese Communist Party ordered the persecution in 1999, he was repeatedly arrested. He served a two-year forced labor camp term and another three-year prison term before being sentenced again in late 2024.
Two-Year Labor Camp Term
Mr. Jin was arrested some time in 2000 for talking to people about Falun Gong. After one day at the Piaoertun Police Station, he was taken to the Fushun City Detention Center. Less than one month later, he was transferred to the Fushun City Forced Labor Camp, also known as the Wujiabao Forced Labor Camp, to serve a two-year term. He was tortured and ordered to renounce Falun Gong in the labor camp.
Three-Year Prison Term
About six officers broke into Mr. Jin’s home on the morning of September 19, 2009. An officer named Li Yanjun quickly flashed an ID. Mr. Jin later learned that he was from the Heping Police Station.
Mr. Jin tried to stop the police from arresting his teenage son, who was trembling in fear. Officer Li responded, “We are violating the law (in arresting your son)! What can you do to me!”
The police taped Mr. Jin’s mouth and head to prevent him from talking and then raided his home. Many of his valuables were confiscated, including a gold necklace, a pair of gold earrings, a diamond ring, two computers, a cellphone, two watches, a VCD and 1,900 yuan cash Mr. Jin prepared to pay for his son’s tuition.
Mr. Jin was taken to the Wanghua District Police Station. The police restrained him on a bench and force-fed him mustard oil through a nostril tube at least four times. His head was swollen, and he had excruciating pain in his chest and internal organs. His body kept trembling. The torture caused long-term debilitating effects, and he still can’t talk normally to this day.
Mr. Jin’s son was also detained for a month. He was deeply traumatized.
The Wanghua District Court later sentenced Mr. Jin to three years. He was admitted to the Benxi Prison in April 2010. The prison guards deceived him into renouncing Falun Gong by telling him that his wife was seriously ill and his son’s college withheld his diploma. Mr. Jin was later transferred to the second division and forced to work more than ten hours each day without pay. He was released on September 18, 2012.
