North Carolina, U.S.: Three Cities Proclaim World Falun Dafa Day

(Minghui.org) The cities of Cary, Apex, and Jacksonville in North Carolina issued proclamations and declared May 13, 2025 “World Falun Dafa Day,” thanking Falun Dafa for its contributions to the local communities.

Falun Dafa’s founder, Master Li Hongzhi, introduced Falun Dafa in 1992, and May 13 this year marked the 33rd anniversary.

Proclamation from Mayor Sammy Phillips

The proclamation reads, “Whereas, Falun Gong was introduced to North Carolina in the spring of 1996, and since then, volunteers have provided free workshops, instructional programs, seminars, and group exercises across the state; and

“Whereas, each year, on May 13th, Falun Gong practitioners and their supporters celebrate World Falun Dafa Day around the world, giving thanks to Mr. Li for his teachings, with this year marking the celebration's 33rd anniversary; and

“Whereas, although millions of people practice Falun Gong in China and live under the threat of abduction, imprisonment, or worse, many still find a way to celebrate this special day; and

“Whereas, today, Falun Gong has spread internationally, being practiced in over 100 countries, and the book Zhuan Falun, Falun Gong’s main book of teachings, has been translated into 49 different languages;

“Now, therefore, I, Sammy Phillips, Mayor of the City of Jacksonville, do hereby proudly proclaim May 13, 2025, as “WORLD FALUN DAFA DAY” in the City of Jacksonville, and I urge all citizens in the community to recognize the importance of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance within Falun Gong’s teachings.”

The proclamation reads, “WHEREAS, Falun Dafa’s contributions to society has been widely recognized and honored around the world since Mr. Li Hongzhi introduced it to the public in 1992; and

“WHEREAS, Falun Dafa is open to people of all cultures, races, nationalities, and backgrounds; and

“WHEREAS, Falun Dafa contributes to living in harmony within families and communities; and

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Harold Weinbrecht, Jr., Mayor of the Town of Cary, North Carolina, on behalf of the Cary Town Council, do hereby proclaim May 13, 2025, as Falun Dafa Day and encourage Falun Dafa participants to acknowledge its history and principles of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance.”

The proclamation reads, “WHEREAS, Practitioners introduced Falun Dafa in North Carolina in 1996, and have continued to offer free workshops to the public while participating in community events such as festivals and expos; and,

“WHEREAS, Falun Dafa's contribution to society has been widely recognized and honored around the world since Mr. Li Hongzhi introduced it to the public in 1992.

“NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jacques K. Gilbert, Mayor of Apex, North Carolina, do hereby proclaim May 13th, 2025, "World Falun Dafa Day" in the Town of Apex, and commend Falun Dafa for its positive impacts on practicing residents of our town.”
