(Minghui.org) Practitioners in Edmonton, the capital of the province of Alberta, held an activity at the Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market on July 26, 2025, to expose the 26-year-long persecution of Falun Dafa by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Many people signed postcards addressed to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, urging him to help end the CCP’s persecution of Falun Dafa, including the forced organ harvesting and transnational repression.

Practitioners demonstrated the Falun Dafa exercises at the Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market on July 26.

Many people stopped to talk with practitioners and signed the postcards.

Exposing the Transnational Repression

During the event, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Huang described how the CCP has mistreated Falun Dafa practitioners since July 1999 by detaining them illegally, torturing them, and harvesting their organs without their consent. The Chinese regime has recently exported the suppression overseas, using Western media outlets and the legal system to attack Falun Dafa and Shen Yun Performing Arts.

Ms. Huang spoke at the event.

“We are a peaceful meditation group and we are here to call on people to help end this genocide,” she said. Influenced by the CCP, some Western media outlets have been misled and used as platforms to slander Falun Dafa and Shen Yun. Ms. Huang reminded Canadians to recognize that the CCP has its own agenda and to oppose the transnational repression. “Freedom belongs to everyone. Thank you for your support.”

Rescuing Detained Practitioners

Ms. Xie said her father was detained by Dongcheng Police Station officers in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, in February 2024 and sentenced to three years.

“The nightmare of 20 years ago is happening again,” Ms. Xie said. “My father was arrested back on October 2, 2001, for telling people about Falun Dafa. The authorities said they would release him if he signed documents to renounce his faith. My father refused and was sentenced to a three-year prison term.”

Inside prison, Ms. Xie’s father was severely tortured. Guards hit him in the face with wooden batons. “Several of his teeth were knocked out, and he was covered in blood,” she said. “The guards also deprived him of sleep and access to the toilet. Inmates in the same cell were ordered to watch him and torture him, causing severe physical injuries and mental impairment.”

After he was released in 2005, Ms. Xie’s father was monitored and harassed by local authorities. Because officials repeatedly threatened to send him to a brainwashing center, he was forced to stay away from home.

“My father is 65 years old. My family is in great pain whenever we think of his suffering in prison and the possibility of forced organ harvesting. My mother has tried repeatedly to get my father released. Officials either lie to her or threaten to arrest her, so she is worried about herself, too.”

Ms. Xie hopes more people can help rescue her father. She said it is important to recognize the CCP’s vicious nature and the harm of transnational repression. “The regime has exported the persecution overseas, including to Canadian soil. We cannot ignore this, because our free society is in danger.”
