(Minghui.org) Three years ago, my mother, also a practitioner, accidentally fell at my place. Because she is heavy-set, I thought the fall was serious. She kept saying, “Master, please do not let my leg have issues! What am I going to do if I cannot walk?”

I thought: this is a form of persecution that needs to be completely denied. So I let my mother take a moment to recover, and then I helped her slowly move into the room. We studied the Fa and sent righteous thoughts.

The bruises on her feet and legs gradually faded away, but her legs were still swollen. I asked her, “How do you feel?” She looked very uncomfortable and said, “Very painful and uncomfortable. It never hurt this much before... Should I apply a towel and hot water?” I hesitated a bit, but I brought her hot water and a towel.

My parents and I started practicing in 1998. It has been almost 30 years now. My father passed away in 2017 after he was repeatedly illegally arrested, beaten, made to do forced labor, and sentenced to prison. I stayed with my mother.

When this situation happened to my mother, I also looked within: What is going on? I knew it was persecution imposed by the old forces, but why were they able to persecute us? I felt it meant that I had loopholes or attachments, which allowed the old forces to take advantage.

As I looked inward further, I first found that my sentimentality toward my mother was too strong. After my father passed away I thought that since I just have my mother now, I will do all I can to take good care of her. So I treated myself as an ordinary person, fulfilled my filial duties and forgot that we were practitioners.

My mother is a retired teacher and receives over 5,000 yuan [$747] in pension every month. But because I did not balance this fundamental relationship well, my younger sister, who had already gotten married, developed resentment and a feeling of unfairness, because she thought that my keeping my mother company for nearly ten years allowed me to receive a large amount of financial assistance from her in exchange. After I realized this, I let go of this attachment to affection for family.

As I continued looking inward, I saw another issue: as I spent more time with my mother, I never seemed to like anything she did. Even though I did not argue with her, I always felt annoyed by small daily matters. My mother could feel my discontentment, so we studied the Fa and did the exercises on our own. A barrier was formed between us two practitioners. On top of that, neither of us cultivated our hearts, so we did not form one body. As a result, we were taken advantage of by the old forces.

Around ten days after my mother fell, my younger sister suggested that I bring mother and my child to live at her place. My xinxing was not good, so I agreed. The day after I brought my mother to her place, my sister and her husband took her to an orthopedic hospital.

An X-ray check showed a fracture in her ankle, so a cast was immediately placed on it, and she was also given a lot of oral and topical medicine. After my sister, brother-in-law, and mother returned from the hospital, I could feel that I had become a huge sinner in their eyes. My sister had a sullen face and did not say anything to me; my mother’s face was full of resentment. However, my brother-in-law had no filter and sarcastically mocked me, “‘Nothing wrong,’ ‘nothing wrong,’ what is ‘nothing wrong?’ There is nothing wrong when the person is dead...”

On one side were my sister and brother-in-law who did not practice, and the other side was my mother whose righteous thoughts were not firm—both sides were complaining that I did not take her to the hospital when she fell. I tried hard to hold back my tears as I walked out of the house. But I wept as soon as I entered the street.

I felt wronged not because my sister and brother-in-law blamed me. They were not practitioners. I could not tolerate my mother’s resentment. I did not take her to get an X-ray because I thought that she would overcome this tribulation as long as she acted according to the Fa. However, I overlooked her xinxing at that time. In fact, when the incident happened, she was already treating the fall like a non-practitioner and thought she was injured.

My mother very much complied with the doctors and did everything they told her. I could only fulfill my duties as a daughter. We stayed at my sister’s place for 45 days. By that time, the plaster cast on my mother’s foot was removed.

This experience made me deeply realize that when a conflict happens, it is very important for fellow practitioners to put down sentiment based on personal relationships in a timely manner and talk candidly. When she fell, if my mother told me that she wanted to go to the hospital for an X-ray to see how the feet and legs were, my sister and brother-in-law would not have later developed such great resentment toward Dafa. As for me, I imposed my understanding of Dafa on my mother: I did not have a clear understanding of whether she was willing to handle the tribulation with righteous thoughts and pass the test.

In fact, I could have sensed the degree of her righteous thoughts toward the fall based on her words and conduct. For example, she said right after she fell, “Master please help me. What am I going to do if I cannot walk?” As a Dafa practitioner who was suffering from a tribulation, her first thought was not: “I am a practitioner and a fall would not result in any issues. I can definitely walk. I cannot ruin Dafa’s image. I must validate the Fa!”

Instead, she was afraid that she would not be able to walk, and she was worried about her own gains and losses. She also asked for a towel and hot water. She already treated herself as a non-practitioner, but I was still stuck in my own thinking and thought she would pass the test with righteous thoughts. I did not first think: “Why did I encounter this? How does what happened reflect my cultivation state?” My wrong judgment led to a series of problems.

It is already outstanding that every practitioner is able to come this far through firm faith in Master and the Fa. However, practitioners may still often get confused when it comes to removing their attachments. This conflict reminded me to be kind to fellow practitioners; cherish this predestined relationship we have with one another; walk each step carefully and steadily; and believe that we Dafa practitioners will form an unbreakable body and manifest more powers of the Fa on our cultivation journeys while we validate the Fa.
