A woman in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province died on March 15, 2026, at the age of 69. Because Ms. Yun Yan practiced Falun Gong, she was once held at a labor camp and tortured for not giving up her faith.
Ms. Yun was arrested on June 5, 2004, after being reported by a student while distributing Falun Gong informational materials at the Northeastern University. She was taken to the Wangjia Detention Center by the Nanhu Police Station officers and later transferred to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp.
Ms. Yun held a hunger strike to protest, and was force-fed by the labor camp doctor Cao Yujie. He often left the feeding tube in her nose for weeks, and also tied it to her hair while keeping her handcuffed.
In September 2005, Cao force-fed Ms. Yun four basins of corn paste—over 6 liters of liquid. The feeding tube gushed out as a result. Ms. Yun questioned Cao why they were torturing her like that. Cao responded, “This is what I will do if you don’t eat!”
Since then, Ms. Yun struggled with frequent stomachaches and gastric issues. She was released on October 1, 2005.
