Fog Fest began in 1986 to promote the City of Pacifica and to celebrate the coast. The festival is held on the last weekend of each September, when good weather is expected.
The parade kicked off on Saturday at 10 a.m. People applauded when they saw the practitioners’ group. One person said, “I need this. Their group is so beautiful.” Some of the onlookers followed the practitioners’ exercise movements. After the parade, several people told the practitioners, “You were great!”
As the practitioners’ procession passed the main stage, the announcer said. “Coming up is the Falun Dafa group. Falun Dafa’s principles are Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. Many people who practice it say their physical and mental health improved. Anyone can learn it, and it is free.”
City Council Member: “These Principles Are Absolutely Great”
Pacifica City Council Member Mary Bier said, “We welcome Falun Dafa practitioners to our parade!” Its guiding principles “are absolutely great. They are exactlywhat everyone should follow and implement in their lives.”

“There is nothing more important than Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance,” she said.
Spectators Agree With Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance

When Jeremy Williams saw practitioners in the parade, he followed their exercise movements. He said watching them made him feel calm and peaceful. “This looks really great!” he said.
“I like them [Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance] very much. An excellent motto and core values.”
His wife, Celeste Williams, agreed and added, “They are very important! Without inner peace, you cannot practice peace in the outside world.”
Nora Ramos described the practitioners’ procession as “very beautiful and uplifting.” Regarding the principles, she said, “Unfortunately, not everyone can follow them. This is the issue. Why can’t we do that? Being friendly and warm does not take extra effort.”

Her friend, Lori Mierz, took out her phone and video-recorded practitioners as they did the exercises. She said, “Your group is great. What you are doing is really great! I’m very happy to see you in this year’s Fog Fest Parade and hope to see you again next year.”
Lori said that the group’s unique appeal was what made her record them. She took a brochure and said she would read it and learn about Falun Dafa and its principles.
