On May 7, 2008, in Jiujiang County, Jiangxi Province, group of older Falun Gong practitioners were arrested while studying Falun Gong books together.
Under the direction from the 610 Office in Mengyin County, Shandong Province, the police arrested thirteen practitioners in Jiuzhai Township in May 2008.
On the evening of April 8, 2008, the police Zengdu Station, Suizhou City, Hubei Province arrested Ms, Zhang Ling, Ms. Li Yun, and Mr. Fu Guoqi. The police confiscated all of Ms. Zhang and Ms. Li's property in their rented rooms.
Ms. Zhang Junying from Jilin City, Jilin Province was arrested on May 12, 2008. Then the police confiscated her personal belongs and forced her family members to pay 50 yuan as a so-called "arrest fee." Ms. Zhang Junying had been illegally arrested four times and sentenced to forced labor three times before for practicing Falun Gong.
Mr. Gu Qun was a Falun Gong practitioner who lived in Dalian City, Liaoning Province. He was arrested five times and later sent to a forced labor camp. He died within 23 days after being arrested for the fifth time.
Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xu Na, 40, from Beijing is a well-known painter. Her husband Mr. Yu Zhou, a famous Chinese folk singer, was tortured to death by the police during the Chinese New Year celebration this year. Ms. Xu Na is currently being illegally imprisoned in Beijing. Her trial has been put on hold because the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is afraid of international attention to her and her husband. Ms. Xu has overcome many difficulties to appeal for justice in the case of her husband's death while she is still in prison.
